The storm damage to the Palace Theater was a bit more than first estimated. It may take $2 million to repair. There have been some concert postponements as well. The Alan King Sept. 19 show will occur sometime next year. "A Chorus Line", scheduled for Sept. 22 - 27, will be staged Oct. 5 - 10 of 1999. "Ain't Misbehavin'" has been postponed from Oct. 20 - 25 to Oct. 26 - 31 of 1999. The Pointer Sisters (Oct. 1) and Bernie Mac (Oct. 11) have been canceled. The final portion of the "Pizazz" show was also canceled. The Radio City Music Hall Rockettes will still perform as scheduled this Christmas season.
The Gatlin Brothers, who had already announced a reduced schedule for their theater, have decided to stop performing together for the immediate future, beginning next year. The three brothers are performing their regular show from now to Oct. 31, then will stage their Christmas show from Nov. 27 to Dec. 9. Steve Gatlin alone will perform at the theater certain times next year.
The House of Blues is denying persistent rumors that they will close their restaurant at Barefoot Landing, while acknowledging that the away-from-the-street location there has been a hindrance.
The Legends in Concert celebrity impersonation show has dropped Tom Jones and the Blues Brothers and added Mick Jagger, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Buddy Holly - or at least performers pretending to be these stars.

The Toys R Us store at Seaboard Commons should open Nov. 1. The Golden Corral steak and buffet chain is planning a restaurant on S.C. 544.
Some of the biker organizations who stage the Memorial Day bike rally are calling for a change of date. Noting that the rally now attracts many non-biker who 'party' and cause trouble, they are targeting a new date so the bikers will not be blamed for the trouble-plagued Memorial Day weekend.
Some Grand Strand statistics: The state says 10.3 million visitors spent $2.25 billion last year; the Chamber of Commerce estimates it's 13 million visitors. The average tourist stays 4.4 days. The most popular months, in order, are July, June, August, and October.
