Vivace! Festival
Vivace! 96, the inaugural year of this arts festival, will be held around the Grand Strand October 18th through the 27th. This year will be something of a shakedown cruise, to see how broad support for the arts is along the beach. Several national acts are being featured in the performances of Don Pasquale and 42nd Street; most of the other talent is local to the area. Here is a schedule of events:
October 18:
7:30 p.m.: Double Exposure piano and violin duo at Trinity Episcopal Church. $10.
October 19:
2 p.m.: Strand Ballet at the Senior Center. $7.
4 p.m.: A Midsummer's Night Dream at Broadway at the Beach. $8.
8 p.m.: Don Pasquale opera in English at the Myrtle Beach High School Auditorium. $12.
October 20:
2 p.m.: Strand Ballet at the Senior Center. $7.
4 p.m.: A Midsummer's Night Dream at Broadway at the Beach. $8.
4 p.m.: Diane Bish organ concert at the Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church. $10.
7:30 p.m.: American Delight: Copeland and Gershwin, by the Long Bay Symphony,
at the Myrtle Beach High School Auditorium. $18.
October 21:
10 a.m.: Visual Arts Exhibit ($4) and Children's Exhibit (no charge) at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. Until 7 p.m.
10 a.m. - Noon, 1 p.m. - 3 p.m., 4 p.m. - 6 p.m.: Visual Arts Demos at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. No charge.
1 p.m.: American Delight: Copeland and Gershwin, by the Long Bay Symphony, at the Myrtle Beach High School Auditorium. Students only admitted, no charge.
6:30 p.m.: Scarlett O'Hara Fever lecture by Dr. Elliot Engle at Wheelwright Auditorium. No charge.
7:30 p.m.: The Literary Enterprise discussion at Wheelwright Auditorium. No charge.
October 22:
10 a.m.: Visual Arts Exhibit ($4) and Children's Exhibit (no charge) at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. Until 7 p.m.
10 a.m. - Noon, 1 p.m. - 3 p.m., 4 p.m. - 6 p.m.: Visual Arts Demos at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. No charge.
5 p.m.: Gallery Crawl at Broadway Galleries. Until 7 p.m. No charge.
7:30 p.m.: CCU Gospel Choir at Wheelwright Auditorium. $5.
October 23:
